EASIGEN-DS at the Genomic data governance conference in Brussels, Belgium

On 1-2 September, representatives from EASIGEN-DS, from KU Leuven, played a central role in organising the two-day conference Genomic Data Governance for Precision Medicine, held in collaboration with Sciensano, Belgium’s national public health institute.

The event convened a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including leading clinicians, academic researchers, patient advocates, and policymakers. Among the participants were representatives from DG Connect from the European Commission. Together, they explored the evolving landscape of genome sequencing infrastructure and data governance, with a particular focus on Belgium’s role and the broader European context. 

The program featured keynote addresses, technical sessions, policy panels, and roundtable discussions. A dedicated presentation on EASIGEN highlighted the consortium’s contributions and emphasized the importance of collaboration in shaping the future of genomic research in Europe.
